Silicone potting materials offer the highest level of flexibility and the lowest mechanical strength of our potting materials. They are also the most temperature-resistant products, withstanding very high working temperatures of 180°C and in some cases 200°C, but also very low temperatures without becoming brittle.

Examples of popular products include the Wacker ELASTOSIL® range of two-component materials, a large selection of potting materials with different hardness, viscosity and thermal conductivity levels, which are used to create elastic insulating and protective layers around circuits, as well as super soft silicone gel.  These materials help to extend the product’s service life and ensure reliability in demanding environments.

Our bestseller Silgel 612 is a high quality silicone gel that is primarily used as protection against moisture and temperature fluctuations over a wide temperature range. It is highly flexible and has excellent insulation properties, and has been developed to protect and insulate sensitive components in electronics applications, automotive and medical devices. Despite its softness, it contains a very low proportion of volatile substances and low bleeding after curing, and is well suited to sensor applications. Silgel 612 is completely transparent and is unaffected by UV radiation, staying crystal clear for many years, making it ideal when the application requires optical clarity.
