An overlay is a front that can easily be installed on top of the electronics in the customer’s application. This type of solution is used when the electronics are already incorporated on the PCB and you only want a front to attach on top to cover the components.
We print your overlay with the desired graphics, size and shape, along with the recommended adhesive that attaches to your intended enclosure.
When the overlay is to be attached to a surface where switches/domes are already in place, we can also emboss the area by the button surface for better pressure sensitivity and a clearer, more distinct feel where the button is located. In the same way, we can also print windows for displays, for LEDs that are to shine through the overlay or make cut-outs for levers, for example.
The overlay material is usually made of hard or soft plastic, although we can accommodate special requests regarding the material.
Overlays are one of the optimal interfaces between machine and component.
