Linear transformers

Suppliers: Hahn, TPEG

  • Robust and reliable design with a minimal number of components
  • Interference-free operation – ideal for sensitive electronics
  • Simple architecture delivers high reliability and long service life

Power transformers, also known as linear transformers, are the most common type of transformer. They are usually made up of three parts: primary winding, secondary winding and core. An alternating current through the primary winding gives rise to a time-varying magnetic field in the core. The core transfers the magnetic field to the secondary winding, in which a voltage is induced. The simplest type of transformer consists of an iron core and two metal wires wound around the core. Some designs have multiple windings on the secondary side. The selected version depends on how much voltage you want out on the secondary side.

+ Simple and robust
+ Interference-free
+ Few and only passive components (nothing that needs to be controlled or monitored )
- Larger size
- A little less cost effective.
