A PFC choke (Power Factor Correction choke) is used to improve the power factor and reduce mains interference in electronics such as power supplies and frequency converters. By smoothing the current flow and making it more sinusoidal, the choke reduces the load on the electrical grid and increases energy efficiency. With a robust design and strong EMC characteristics, PFC chokes contribute to more stable operation, lower losses, and easier compliance with international standards.

Passive PFC uses a large inductor (PFC choke) to improve the power factor. It operates at the mains fundamental frequency (50/60 Hz), which makes it physically larger and heavier.
