Heat pipes

Suppliers: Boyd, Priatherm

  • High-performance heat transfer
  • Optimized for compact and challenging spaces
  • Robust and reliable construction
  • Wide standard product range for rapid implementation

Heat pipes are a closed heat pipe containing a small amount of liquid, which is a very efficient transporter of heat. With an encapsulated evaporation and condensation process, the heat is transferred from the heat source to a cooler some distance away. Heat pipes can also be used to increase dispersion and thermal conductivity, by being integrated into the base plate of a heat sink. Heat pipes are usually made of copper and use water as the liquid.

Heat pipes are a good solution in cases of high heat output, when there is a lack of space, for weight reduction or where the air flow is limited.

We offer a large standard range of heat pipes – both round and flat.

  • Sizes in diameter: 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 mm
  • Lengths: 75–360 mm
  • Working fluid: water
  • Max. thermal conductivity: >300 W/cm²

Benefits of heat pipes

  • Passive components without moving parts entail a longer service life and good reliability.
  • They can withstand many freeze/thaw cycles and temperatures from -55°C to +180°C.
  • Commercially tried and tested technology ensures versatile, cost-effective and reliable heat transport or distribution.
  • Copper allows for design flexibility, with bending and flattening options.
  • The use of water as the working liquid covers most commercial operating temperatures with a high heat transport capacity.
  • Easy to combine with other technologies for complete thermal management solutions.
